At the Advocates for Children of New Jersey's (ACNJ) Third Annual PreK-3rd Leadership Conference, Sharon Ritchie of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill presented, "FirstSchool: Improving the PreK-3rd Grade School Experience of African-American, Latino, and Low Income Children." She urged developing PreK-3rd curriculum alignment based on observational data from FirstSchool Classrooms using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS). Jason Sachs, Director of Early Childhood Education for the Boston Public Schools, also made a case for PreK-3rd grade curriculum alignment based on his research findings. ACNJ organized the conference in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Education, the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association, and Brookdale Community College. |
