The New Jersey Story: Advocates for Children of New Jersey (ACNJ) has released a policy brief that outlines the findings of an in depth PreK-3rd assessment training program for school district administrators in New Jersey.
The brief shows that when properly used and understood, assessment data can create better schools, better teachers and better readers. However, the assessment alone will not improve practice. It is vital to develop strong, knowledgeable early learning instructional leaders, who can implement and interpret the data from an assessment system. Learn more.

Similarly to New Jersey, districts across the United States are institutionalizing system-wide student assessments and, as part of the accountability movement, are moving towards using student data to drive improvements in instruction.
